To see a chart comparing the CLCWA Plan to a Better Plan (FOGC Plan), click HERE.
November 2013. Surveying and banding of trees in Section 2 (area with the two duck ponds) has happened! See Section 2 Survey.
CLCWA recently revealed senseless plans CLICK HERE to begin removing all of the trees and begin digging in Section 3, bounded by Reseda, Ramada, and Diana. (The clubhouse was here.) The existing jogging/walking trail winding through tall trees will be gone. All of the trees will be gone. At the Water Authority meeting it was stated that it will take 6 months to remove the amount of soil to create the giant ditch requested by the Water Authority. Why create a huge area for breeding mosquitoes?
A huge housing development planned by Trendmaker (Reference), north of the Old Golf Course, will destroy vast wetlands. Is there some connection between the loss of these detention/wetlands and the Water Authority's intention to dig out detention craters in our park (where we have no flooding)? Destroying our park to alleviate the requirement of developers to provide their own detention is wrong. Don't let Big Money win. Join us!
The CLCWA has submitted a permit request to TCEQ to amend their current waste water disposal permit. The amendment would allow the CLCWA to dump up to 10 million gallons per day of treated sewage waste water effluent into/onto the OGC. It is very important that as many of us as possible request a hearing.
Go to the Petition Page to arrange to sign the petition requesting a hearing. Treated waste water doesn’t belong in our neighborhood. Please help us protest this assault on our community. Please contact the TCEQ immediately via their website www.tceq.texas.gov. Request a public meeting to protest the dumping of waste water effluent into our community. On the TCEQ website, under “How Do I”, click on “Offer Comments”. On the next page, click on "comment on pending permit application". On the next page, enter permit application number WQ0010539001 and click "Next". Enter your comments in the comments section and request a public meeting. Note your phone number must be a 10 digit figure without dashes.
You may also request a contested case hearing. In order to request a contested case hearing you will need to include the permit amendment application number WQ0010539001, location and distance from your property or activities relative to the proposed facility and a specific description how you would be adversely affected by the facility.
For additional information, contact TCEQ at 1-800-687-4040. You may also call the CLCWA and request a copy of this permit application. Contact Mr. William Rosenbaum, P.E., Lockwood, Andrews, & Newman, Inc., at 713-821-0455.

Insider News (advance copy of next outgoing email)
We have a new BLOG page. Submit any comments you may have regarding the effort to save this area as a park, how you make use of the park, or why you want it saved. We will see how this goes and whether we continue it.
Several changes have been made in the website to help you keep informed. You are encouraged to visit the site frequently to keep up to date.
There has been some reorganization and renaming of the tabs and buttons on the Home Page:
ABOUT US gives an introduction to our purpose and references the MISSION STATEMENT.
The MEETINGS button takes you descriptions of our past meetings and anything important to us presented at the last CLCWA meeting. A presentation of our meeting in March is referenced. Also a presentation of Our Plan can be found there.
The IN THE NEWS button takes you letters that have been submitted to various newspapers or magazines. (Some of them even published!) There are two very good unpublished responses to John Bessant's letter in the Citizen (we don't need another park!) that you should read.
We now call the correspondence sent to you "Insider News". There has been a problem for some, going to your Junk Mail folder. We are working on the problem. For now, check your Junk Mail, click the INSIDER NEWS button, and let your friends know about the problem.
The OUR PLAN button takes you to a better plan (ours).
All of the older stuff can still be found under "HISTORY" on the ABOUT US page.
We have a new page "Myths and Misinformation". The "What Can You Do" page has been improved and called "How To Help". Please read this page again.
Well, try to keep up your spirits. If enough of us get together we do have a chance.
Signed,
Your friendly Webmeister

CALL FOR PHOTOS
If you have any good photos taken around the golf course please contact me at [email protected] I especially can use more photos of children doing activities on the golf course. Vintage pictures of when it was still a golf course may also be of interest. Anybody get a shot of the Bald Eagle sighted around here? Please send it to me.

Subject: "A BETTER PLAN" on our website now
Friends of the Old Golf Course now has "A BETTER PLAN" posted on our website, www.savetheogc.org. This website is constantly evolving with new information added.
*** Tell your friends and neighbors about our better plan. Ask them to join us by clicking on Contact Us.
*** While you're on the website, sign our petition!
*** ANOTHER WAY TO HELP:
Put a sign in your yard indicating your feelings about saving the golf course area from excavation. It could say "SAVE OUR PROPERTY VALUES" or "SAVE OUR TREES" with a reference to our website, www.savetheogc.org at the bottom.
If you have an old Green Plan sign, you could paint over it and print the words you want using a permanent marker.
If you prefer, email us and we will deliver a sign to you and put it in your yard where you like. One more way to get the word out to our neighbors. The more signs we have around the neighborhood, the better.
ALONE OUR VOICE CAN BE IGNORED. TOGETHER WE CAN CHANGE THEIR PLANS.

Subject: Another way to Save the OGC
Please note that we’ve changed our email heading from Protect your property values to Friends of the OGC. The email address remains the same.
After much thought, we’ve concluded the only way to truly protect the ogc is to have it designated as a regional park. By obtaining this designation, we can insure the protection of the trees, wildlife and trails from future development or destruction. Our initial evaluation of local parks indicates that we lack a large comprehensive passive recreational area in our part of Harris County.
Existing local parks commonly contain short one-to-two mile flat walking trails. Our plan provides over 12 miles of walking and biking trails, nestled among mature oaks, pine and other native trees. No local park contains our plan-proposed cardio trails, physical therapy trails or toddler trails. Some contain only ball fields and other limited access amenities.
For more information, go to Our Plan at www.savetheogc.org.
