Our goal is to save the old Clear Lake Golf Course from environmental destruction by the CLCWA. It is worth saving for ourselves, our children, and our grandchildren.
TCEQ UPDATE!
The Clear Lake City Water Authority is required to get a Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) permit before dumping millions of gallons of treated toilet water daily into our old golf course. At the public meeting on May 29th, 2014, we had the opportunity to challenge the misinformation presented by the Water Authority. Many of our members attended, asked questions and made comments. TCEQ is required to respond to each comment and to every hearing request by letter. In the fall of 2014, many people did receive a letter from TCEQ, stating that they were reviewing the remarks and requests.
Recently, the TCEQ told us that they are still reviewing and it could be months before they begin sending out responses or scheduling hearings. As we get more information, we will send out member alerts. If you are not currently a member and want updates, contact the [email protected].
EXPLORATION GREEN?
"Exploration Green Conservancy" is the current propaganda tool of the Water Authority. Their goal is to put a swamp in the center of Clear Lake City, filling the old golf course with treated effluent. By calling a swamp a wetland, they believe you will be fooled. Calling treated sewer water "reuse water", they believe that you will not know that this water is unsafe for human contact. They work very hard to convince you that a treated sewage effluent-filled swamp with mosquitoes, venomous snakes and alligators will improve your property value. Based on what they have said, they want you to believe that the mass destruction of 1000's of mature native trees and the wholesale elimination of extensive bird and wildlife habitat won't matter. To see the true cost, see the bird pictures. Based on what they have said, they want you to believe that they are green, but this conservancy's allegiance to a destructive, anti-conservation plan is the opposite of the definition of conservancy and brings shame to us true conservationists. Exploration Green is green in name only. See a comparison of the Water Authority plan versus a Better Plan HERE.
IS THIS WHAT YOU WANT?
Willow Water Hole is an example of a real "constructed" wetland. It reflects what we will REALLY get here in Clear Lake. Ignore the Water Authority and Exploration Green's pretend pictures. Ask yourself "Is this what I want in the center of Clear Lake?". Click HERE to see the results after seven years. Dreary, in our opinion.
Click IN THE NEWS to see letters submitted to the Bay Area Citizen (some were even published by them).

REMINDER:
When you stroll through the Old Golf Course, take along one of those grocery store plastic bags. Pick up the litter left by careless people. Let's keep our park looking beautiful.
